Sambalpur, Sept 22: Police have arrested a person for allegedly posing death threats to senior BJP leader and Sambalpur MLA Jayanarayan Mishra over phone.
The accused has been identified as Bijayananda Sahoo (51) of Puri, who was lifted by the police on Sunday.
According to the complaint lodged by one Sushanta Purohit with the police, Bijayananda used to abuse and threat over phone to kill the BJP leader Mishra.However, Mishra was not bothered about it thinking it an act of a loafer. However upon receiving frequent calls from the same person and same number recently; Purohit knocked the Sambalpur Town police station regarding the legislator’s woes.
On the basis of the complaint, police launched a probe, apprehended the man and seized the mobile phone from the accused’s possession.
During interrogation the accued confessed to have abused the MLA for his scalthing attack in the Odisha Assembly on former CM Naveen Patnaik, said police.
