Puri , Nov 22: All makeshift shops on the Bada Danda (Grand Road) will remain closed during the five days of holy Panchuka, informed Puri Collector Samarth Verma.

To ensure smooth movement of devotees towards the Shree Jagannath Temple, barricades will be placed from the Lion’s Gate (Simha Dwara) up to Marichikote Chhak, with vehicular traffic restrictions starting from Market Chhak.
For efficient crowd management during this period, volunteers will be deployed in three shifts. To enhance the convenience of devotees, makeshift toilets have been set up along both sides of the Bada Danda. Information on darshan arrangements for devotees is being announced on public address system.
Furthermore, rest shades along the route will have provisions for safe drinking water for the devotees and tourists.
In terms of security, an additional 30 platoons of policemen will be deployed during Panchuka to strengthen security measures and ensure a smooth darshan experience, as expressed by the Collector.
