Bhubaneswar, Dec 2: Prices of potatoes, one of the Odisha’s kitchen staples is on the rise for months. Since a few days, it has been sold out at Rs 60 a kilo across the state.
In a bid to cap the potato price that is soaring up gradually, the Odisha government has begun violent raids on the stockist points in the twin cities.
According to the reports, a number of teams from the food supplies department, acting on the order of the Minister KC Patra, on Monday conducted series of raids in the Malgodam and Chhatra Bazaar areas in Cuttack to rule out illegal hoarding and unfair pricing of the essential tuber.
Similarly, raids are underway in the Bhubaneswar-based godowns located in the Unit I, Patrapara and Patia areas, to initiate action against the unfair retailers and unscrupulous traders.
