Bhubaneswar, Jan 9: On day 2 of the Pravasi Bharatiya Convention, Chief Minister Mohan Majhi invited the global community to explore the many opportunities in Odisha’s growing sectors.
He urged to explore from renewable energy to agriculture and IT which play an active role in shaping the state’s future. “Together, we can realize the vision of a developed India by 2047, as envisioned by our PM Modi ji,” he said.
During the inaugural session of Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) 2025, Chief Minister Mohan Majhi, extended a warm welcome to distinguished guests, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Ministers, and the global Indian diaspora.
Majhi began by greeting the distinguished leaders, especially the President of Trinidad and Tobago, Ms. Christine Carla Kangaloo, who joined virtually, and thanked them for their support in strengthening the bond between India and its diaspora. He also thanked Prime Minister Modi for providing the platform to showcase Odisha on the global stage.
Speaking to the large gathering of Indian diaspora from around the world, the Chief Minister said, “Today, we stand united in celebration of the incredible contributions made by you, the global Indian community, in building a better India. We are deeply grateful for your love, your support, and your dedication to our homeland.”
The theme of this year’s PBD, “Diaspora’s Contribution to a Vikasit Bharat,” was a central focus of his address. CM Majhi spoke passionately about the important role the diaspora plays in shaping India’s progress and prosperity, especially during the “Amrit Kaal.”
The Chief Minister also took the opportunity to highlight Odisha’s rich cultural legacy. “Odisha is not just a state; it is a land of timeless traditions, devotion, and diversity. From the iconic Jagannath Temple in Puri to the Sun Temple in Konark, our land is blessed with spiritual and architectural wonders that have stood the test of time,” he added.
He further emphasized the state’s cultural treasures, including the classical Odissi dance form, the intricate art of Pattachitra, and the world-renowned handloom fabrics of Sambalpur.
He also highlighted the natural beauty of Odisha, from the Chilika Lake to the picturesque beaches of Puri and the lush forests of Similipal.
“Odisha is a land that merges together the past, present, and future,” he said, urging everyone present to explore the state’s cultural and natural riches and carry a piece of Odisha’s magic with them.
“Odisha is rapidly emerging as one of India’s most investor-friendly states. Our vast mineral resources, along with fast-growing sectors such as IT, agro-processing, and renewable energy, are paving the way for a bright economic future,” he said.
He also spoke about the state’s focus on building world-class infrastructure, including ports and shipping corridors, to boost trade with Southeast Asia and beyond.
“Odisha is at the center of the Purvodaya vision, and with the leadership of PM Modi, we are creating a future that is driven by innovation, sustainability, and progress,” CM Majhi added.
