President Murmu visits Statue of Unity, Pays tribute to Sardar Patel in Gujarat

Gandhinagar, February 27: President Droupadi Murmu visited the Statue of Unity, the world’s tallest statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, on February 27. The statue, standing 182 meters tall, is located in Ekta Nagar, Narmada district. During her visit, President Murmu paid floral tributes to the statue and offered prayers at its base.

Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat, State Protocol Minister Jagdish Vishwakarma, and other dignitaries were accompanying her. Together, they marveled at the monumental structure, symbolizing Sardar Patel’s legacy of unity, integrity, and determination. The visit was a profound reflection on Patel's contributions to the nation.

The President was warmly welcomed by the tribal communities of Sagbara and Tilakvada at the Wall of Unity. They greeted her with vibrant traditional dances, including Mevasi and Holi Nritya. President Murmu also explored the exhibition gallery within the Statue of Unity complex, gaining valuable insights into India’s journey from colonial rule to independence, and Sardar Patel’s crucial role in unifying the country.

Later, the President and other dignitaries visited the viewing gallery, where they enjoyed spectacular views of Sardar Sarovar, the Narmada Dam, and the Vindhyachal-Satpura mountain ranges. A guide from the Statue of Unity shared details about the monument’s construction, its significance, and the various tourism amenities available within the complex.

President Droupadi Murmu arrived in Narmada on the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri, spending the night there before visiting the Statue of Unity the following day.
