Mumbai, Jan 19: The Mumbai Police have arrested the main accused in the Saif Ali Khan stabbing case from the Thane West area of Maharashtra, officials confirmed early Sunday.
As per reports, the accused identified as Vijay Das was arrested in a joint operation conducted by DCP Zone-6 Navnath Dhavale's team and the Kasarvadavali police at a labour camp near the metro construction site behind the TCS Call Center in Hiranandani Estate, Thane West.
Vijay, who has multiple names including Vijay Das, Bijoy Das, and Mohammad Iliyas, was previously employed at a pub in Mumbai.
The Mumbai crime branch informed that he will be presented before court today.
Meanwhile, Saif Ali Khan was said to be out of danger and is under recovery at the hospital.
It is worth mentioning that an intruder barged into Khan’s Bandra residence and confronted Khan’s maid, leading to a heated argument. When Khan intervened to protect his staff member, the accused turned on him, stabbing him multiple times in the torso and arms. He sustained grievous spinal injuries in the attack.
Later, his son Ibrahim Ali Khan rushed him to Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital, where he underwent multiple surgeries.
