Amaravati, January 28: School students in Andhra Pradesh will no longer need to carry their bags every Saturday, declared the Minister for Education, Information Technology (IT), and Electronics, Nara Lokesh, on Tuesday
The state government has officially designated each Saturday as a ‘No Bag Day, said Minister Nara Lokesh.
This decision was made during a review meeting chaired by the Minister for Education Today.
In the meeting, Minister Lokesh emphasized the importance of creating more co-curricular activities for students to engage in on these days.
Additionally, while reviewing school and intermediate education, the Minister instructed officials to gather feedback from teachers and educational associations at the grassroots level regarding the withdrawal of Government Order (GO) 117. He asked them to propose solutions that would be agreeable to all parties involved.
Officials provided insights from preparatory meetings organized by the Director of School Education, where suggestions were discussed.
Minister Lokesh directed that these suggestions be thoroughly studied and actioned to ensure that no students drop out due to the current educational policies.
The Government Order, which was introduced by the previous YSR Congress government, brought about several reforms to the education system. However, it has faced opposition from a section of teachers who believe that the reforms may have a negative impact on the system.
In addition, he instructed the creation of a unified app for teachers, replacing the multiple apps currently in use, with the goal of completing this project as soon as possible.
Furthermore, the Minister called for the swift completion of the APAAR ID system to accurately validate the number of students across schools in the state.
Kona Sasidhar, Secretary of Education, V. Vijaya Rama Raju, Director, Kruthika Shukla, Director of Intermediate Education, and other senior officials were also present in the meeting.
