New Delhi, Dec 19: Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke on Thursday with BJP MPs Pratap Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput, who were injured during a scuffle outside Parliament. The altercation occurred while both Congress and BJP MPs were protesting the ongoing Dr. Ambedkar controversy.
The Congress party was protesting in Parliament over remarks made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah during the Constitution debate in the Rajya Sabha. Congress MPs scaled the Parliament boundary, demanding an apology from Shah and his resignation. Meanwhile, the BJP staged a protest, accusing Congress of disrespecting Dr. BR Ambedkar.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, claiming he took the law into his own hands by physically pushing BJP MPs Mukesh Rajput and Pratap Sarangi.
Rijiju stated, "Today, at the main entrance of Parliament, BJP MPs were protesting, the same place where opposition protests occur daily. We protested because Congress has repeatedly disrespected Dr. BR Ambedkar. Rahul Gandhi physically assaulted our MPs. What law grants him the right to take the law into his own hands?"
In the midst of the accusations, both BJP and Congress shared videos to support their respective claims. The BJP released footage showing Rahul Gandhi approaching Sarangi after his fall and then walking away, calling it a display of the "arrogance of the Gandhi scion." In response, Congress shared a video alleging that BJP MPs were preventing their counterparts from entering Parliament.
