Angul, Jan 20: In a shocking incident, unidentified miscreants looted cash and three golden crowns from the famous Saila Srikhetra Jagannath Temple in Angul district.
The incident occurred when the temple priest found the gate damaged during his routine visit on Saturday. The robbers entered the temple by breaking the main gate. They broke open the donation box, looted money and three crowns then decamped with the money.
Though the CCTV cameras were installed in the temple, but were might be non-functional.
On being informed, local police, accompanied by a dog squad and a scientific team started investigation in to the matter.
Saila Srikhetra Jagannath Temple located atop Sunasagad Hill in Angul, was founded on February 2, 1996.
