Nabarangpur, May 10: Slum dwellers of Nabarangpur town resorted to road blockade on Friday demanding fulfilment of their basic amenities.
The protestors vacated the road after the line department officers asserted to address their issues as soon as possible.
Sources said that the residents of the Hilidangar slum in the Nabarangpur town are reportedly languishing in distress due to lack of basic amenities here. There is no electricity, drinking water supply and even motorable raod to pass through.
On being deprived of from basic amenities despite a number of memorandums to the district admin, the locals blocked the town bypass road today to catch attention of the concerned officials. Police and district officials tried their level best to pacify the mob to vacate the road but in vain. However, the road blockade was ended after hours as the Executive Engineer, RWS&S asserted immediate water supply to the slum.
