Bhubaneswar, June 28: Senior IAS officer Manoj Ahuja was today appointed as new Chief Secretary of Odisha. He will also take charge as Secretary of the General Administration and Public Grievances Department.
The General Administration & Public Grievance Department issued an official notification in this regard today.
The tenure of incumbent Chief Secretary Pradeep Jena, which was extended by the BJD government, will end on June 30.
Ahuja, a 1990-batch Odisha Cadre IAS officer, is currently serving as the Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.
The newly formed BJP government in the state had requested for his repatriation to the parent cadre which was accepted by the Central government.
Notably, Ahuja has also served as the Chairman of the Central Board of Secondary Education under the Ministry of Education.
His educational background includes a BE (Mechanical Engineering) from Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology in Patiala, an MBA from Punjab University in Chandigarh, and a Masters in Public Administration (International Development) from Harvard University in USA.
