The business conclave, 'Utkarsh Odisha-Make in Odisha' Summit, is set to begin on January 28 at Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar. The Jayadev Vihar road leading to the venue has been decked up with posters and banners showcasing state’s investment potentials.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the business summit, which is poised to showcase Odisha's industrial potential to a global audience.
According to Modi’s tentative tour programme, he is likely to reach Biju Patnaik International Airport here at 10.35 AM on January 28 and go to Janata Maidan, the venue of the event. He is scheduled to leave Odisha at about 12.55 pm, sources said.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the event. The conclave will focus on all industries. The BJP government has already approved Rs 2.75 lakh crore investment intents by 159 companies in last seven months. The companies will create employments for 2.15 lakh people in the state,” said Industries Minister Sampad Swain.
While several sessions have been planned in the two-day event, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will lead a CEOs round table meeting, where he will pitch for investment in the state. Besides, over 100 MoUs are expected to be signed at the mega event.
The summit is expected to attract over 10,000 delegates, including envoys, investors, and industrialists from across India and other countries. Alongside sectoral sessions, cultural programs will be organized in the evenings to highlight Odisha's rich heritage.
Representatives from several nations—including Australia, Japan, the UK, Germany, Singapore, Malaysia, Cuba, and Holland—are expected to attend the conclave.
"The focus sectors for the summit include IT, renewable energy, chemicals, textiles, and food processing, where we aim to attract substantial investment," said the Minister.
The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Odisha's partner for the event, has already conducted a series of national council meetings today to prepare for the conclave.
As part of the event, the state government will also honor young entrepreneurs from Odisha, celebrating their contributions to the region's industrial growth.
