Samastipur (Bihar), January 5: Pawan Kumar Modi, the father of the late Atul Subhash, expressed strong disapproval on Sunday over the bail granted to his daughter-in-law Nikita Singhania, her mother Nisha Singhania, and her brother Anurag Singhania. The three individuals were arrested in connection with the tragic death of Atul Subhash, who died by suicide in December 2024.

Speaking to the media, Pawan Modi stated, “Bail has been granted to them under the legal process, but they shouldn’t have been granted bail. I’m deeply concerned about my grandson’s well-being and his current whereabouts.” Modi further revealed that the family had received information from Karnataka Police indicating that his grandson is currently enrolled in a boarding school in Faridabad. He expressed his concerns about the legality of this arrangement, noting that the child had been admitted to the school at a very young age, which he described as illegal.

Modi accused his daughter-in-law of exploiting her child for personal gain. “The mother has no love for her child. She is using him like an ATM to extort money,” he said. He also criticized the actions of his late brother’s wife, who reportedly used the child as a reason to apply for bail. “She has done this before,” Modi added. “Even though the school had winter vacations, my grandson was not returned to me. Was the school unaware that the child was being used by the mother?”

The bail for Nikita Singhania, Nisha Singhania, and Anurag Singhania was granted by Bengaluru’s Civil Court on January 4. The three accused had been arrested on December 15 and were remanded to judicial custody. Nikita Singhania was apprehended in Gurugram, Haryana, while Nisha and Anurag Singhania were arrested near Hotel Rameshwaram in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh.

Atul Subhash, a 34-year-old deputy general manager at a private firm, was found dead in his Bengaluru apartment in December 2024. His suicide note, spanning 24 pages, accused his wife and her relatives of harassment and included serious allegations against a judge who allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 5 lakh to “settle” the case.
