Bhubaneswar, Feb 27: Day temperatures across the state are set to increase by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius over the next three days, according to the latest weather forecast. The outlook for the coming two weeks indicates a steady rise in daytime temperatures, with dry weather conditions expected to prevail and little to no chance of rainfall.

Between February 27 and March 5, the maximum temperature is likely to hover around 34°C, remaining 2–3 degrees above normal. The heat is expected to intensify further from March 6 to 12, when temperatures in many areas may cross 36°C. In some places, the mercury could even touch 38°C, which would be 3–4 degrees above the seasonal average. Night temperatures are also expected to see a gradual rise.

On Thursday, Paralakhemundi recorded a high of 35°C, while Jharsuguda reported 34.4°C. Hirakud and Dhenkanal registered 34°C each. Sambalpur recorded 33.8°C, followed by Bhadrak at 33.7°C, Titilagarh and Bhubaneswar at 33.6°C each, and Balasore at 33.2°C. The mercury also crossed 33°C in Baripada, Sundargarh, Talcher, Sonepur, Bargarh and Jagatsinghpur.

Despite the rising daytime temperatures, night temperatures remain below normal in several areas, resulting in a mild chill during late hours. In some places, the minimum temperature on Thursday night ranged between 12°C and 15°C.
