Bhubaneswar, Oct 28: Vigilance Awareness Week begins today and will run until November 3, under the theme "Culture of Integrity for Nation’s Prosperity."
Odisha's Chief Minister will be the chief guest at a state-level function organized by Odisha Vigilance at 10:00 AM at the Convention Centre, Lok Seva Bhavan in Bhubaneswar. During the event, he will take an integrity pledge—developed by the Central Vigilance Commission—to public servants and the citizens of Odisha at 11:00 am.
The event will be broadcasted live by the Odisha Information and Public Relations Department, allowing thousands of members from Self-Help Groups (SHGs), ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, and students across the state to take the oath.
Awards will also be presented for the best Vigilance Division, Vigilance Unit, Investigating Officer, Woman Investigating Officer, and Public Prosecutor during the function. The Odisha Vigilance is coordinating various activities to observe this week across the state.
In addition to the main event, competitions such as debates, quizzes, art, slogans, and posters focusing on anti-corruption themes will be held among school and college students in each district. Winners will be recognized at district-level functions organized by respective divisions of Odisha Vigilance.
Public meetings will take place in each district, engaging students, youth, academics, government officials (both serving and retired), NGOs, and the general public to raise awareness about the dangers of corruption and to garner support for the anti-corruption campaign.
Banners and posters promoting the anti-corruption message will be displayed in prominent locations. Additionally, public rallies, walkathons, and marathons will be organized to further spread awareness and demonstrate solidarity in the fight against corruption. 'Awareness Gram Sabhas' will also take place in rural areas to engage SHGs and Gram Panchayat members in combating corruption.
Odisha Vigilance plans to leverage social media, WhatsApp, and traditional media to generate awareness. Bulk SMS campaigns featuring the Vigilance toll-free number, 1064, will reach millions of mobile users in the state to encourage reporting of corruption. The campaign will also promote online registration of complaints through the Vigilance website: odishavigilance.gov.in.
The fight against corruption is a sustained effort requiring collaboration across various sectors. Odisha Vigilance urges the public to actively participate in Vigilance Awareness Week and contribute to the mission of fostering a corruption-free society in Odisha.
