Raipur, April 16: At least 29 naxals have been killed in an encounter between security forces and Naxalites in the Chhattisgarh forest on Tuesday.
The encounter came up in the forest area under the Chhotebethiya police limits of the Kanker district.
Source said that the Kanker Police accompanied by the BSF jawans initiated a combing operation in the forest ahead of the upcoming election. Meanwhile, Maoists opened fire on the security personnel to which the cops retaliated. During the fierce gun-battle at least 29 naxalites were eliminated leaving several injured. On the other hand, three security personnel also sustained critical injuries during the encounter.
