Boudh, April 20: A somber incident unfolded on Mahanadi Bridge on Saturday, claiming the lives of a couple, Mitu Behera and his wife Manorama Behera, residents of Sadeipur village under Baunsuni police limits.
The unfortunate event occurred as the couple, accompanied by their children, was returning home from Athamallik on a motorcycle. Pausing to admire the Mahanadi River, the children requested a brief stop.
While the couple stood beside their bike, taking in the view, tragedy struck when an ambulance collided with them and swiftly departed the scene. Promptly aided by bystanders, the injured were swiftly transported to Boudh Hospital. Tragically, Mitu was pronounced dead upon arrival, while Manorama succumbed to her injuries during treatment.
Being informed, Boudh Model police reached the spot, seized the bodies and sent for post-mortem.
A cloud of sorrow enveloped the community following this heartbreaking incident.
