Cuttack, March 23: A team of Excise officials was attacked by liquor peddlers in Odisha’s Cuttack district on Saturday while conducting raids on illegal country-liquor making units.
Police have arrested one in this connection whereas other miscreants are on the run.
Sources said, a team of the mobile excise sleuths, as a part of anti-liquor drive conducted a raid at Dalua village under Khuntuni police station near Athagarh. A huge cache of illicit liquor and fermented liquor was seized from the village during the raid. Meanwhile, some goons vandalised the excise department vehicle and attacked on the sleuths.
On being informed, the Khuntuni police led by the IIC rushed to the spot and arrested one Rabindra Swain, a deliberate liquor smuggler who was behind the bar in connection with an excise case earlier.
