Bhubaneswar, April 23: The Commissionerate Police on Monday imposed fine of Rs 2.5 lakh on cars with tinted glass in Bhubaneswar city.
The enforcement team also removed black films from 46 cars. Checking was conducted at two places in the city headed by Bhubaneswar traffic DCP PK Rout. A team of Traffic Police Station - I conducted checking near Satyanagar Church and black covers were removed from 29 cars.
Similarly, Traffic Police Station - II checked near NALCO Square and 17 cars were found with tented glasses. Officials of the two Regional Transport Offices were involved in the drive.
The drive will be intensified further in the days to come. As per the guidelines issued by the Supreme Court, putting any kind of film on the glass of any vehicle is illegal. The violators can be fined Rs 5,000 and face imprisonment for six months for using tinted glass in cars, said police.
