Sambalpur, April 16: Acting on a tip-off, Jamankira and Jujumura police in Odisha's Sambalpur district on Tuesday conducted a raid in Basupali and busted an illegal firearms manufacturing unit.
Police have also arrested two persons, Ganesh Singh and Arun Bhoi of Chirgonikhol under Sambalpur police limits and a double-barrel rifle along with a single-barrel rifle was seized from them.
During interrogation, the arrested individuals disclosed the involvement of Bidyadhar Pradhan in illegal firearms manufacturing at his residence, where he sold them to various buyers. Upon raiding Bidyadhar's house, he resisted but was ultimately subdued by the police, leading to the discovery of 20 single-barrel rifles, three wooden rifle butts, and five barrels used in making country-made firearms.
The police revealed that the three accused have pending cases against them in various police stations within the district.
