Bhubaneswar, April 19: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh each for the next of kin of the deceased persons of the Jharsuguda boat capsize in the Mohanadi.
According to a release issued by the CMO, the CM expressed deep grief over the death of two persons and missing of as many as five others in the boat capsize, took place at Saradha village under the Lakhanpur block limit on Friday.
Besides, the Chief Minister has directed the district administration to provide better medical treatment to the victims,rescued from the water.
The release also said that the Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC), Jharsuguda Collector and SP have been asked to take stock of the situation and expedite the rescue operation.
The Chief Minister has also directed the Chief Secretary and Special Relief Commissioner to coordinate the rescue operation.
As many ass five scuba divers and two search camerahave been mobilized to the spot by air to intensify the rescue operation.
Worth mentioning, a country boat, ferrying at least 50 persons including several women and children capsized in the river Mahanadi near Saradha while it was on its way to Banjhipali in Bargarh district.
