Malaria grips tribal dominated Niyamgiri hills in Odisha’s Rayagada

Muniguda, April 19: A team of doctors from Muniguda reached the villages at foothills of Niyamgiri hills following spread of malaria.

Some villagers were suffering from high fever for the last few days. Being informed, a special team from Muniguda reached the villages on April 13 and collected blood samples. The reports revealed spread of malaria in the areas.

The medical team treated some patients in Khambesi village under Muniguda block and a few others were not available as they had gone for traditional treatment.

On Thursday, the team collected blood sample of all villagers and three persons tested positive from a few samples. The other samples were brought to Muniguda Community Health Centre for test.

Additional Chief District Medical Officer Mamata Choudhury said medicines have been distributed to all having fever symptoms and mobile health teams will reach other villages to check spread of the disease.
