Bhubaneswar, April 17: The upcoming Rourkela Assembly election is going to be a fierce battle, with two heavyweight candidates vying for victory.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has fielded former union minister and three-time MLA from Rourkela, Dilip Ray who is a prominent figure in Odisha politics. His influence and political prowess have been evident as he campaigned across the constituency, meeting local people and garnering support. Ray’s supporters have rallied behind him, making his bid for victory a strong one.
The ruling Biju Janata Dal has fielded Sarada Prasad Nayak, the incumbent MLA, who seeks his fourth term in the Rourkela constituency. As the state Labour Minister, Nayak has a significant presence in the region. He will be defending his seat against the formidable challenge posed by Dilip Ray.
On the other hand, the Congress party has fielded veteran B.N. Patnaik in the fray.
Additionally, Nihar Ray, the BJP ticket aspirant from the last election, has been debarred from the party ticket this time. His supporters remain vocal, but the spotlight is on the head-to-head battle between Ray and Nayak.
It will be interesting to see how the voters decide in this crucial election. Both candidates have their loyal followers, and the outcome could significantly impact the political landscape in Rourkela.
