Bhubaneswar, April 23:  The recent political developments in Balikuda-Erasama assembly segment of Jagatsingpur district have certainly stirred up emotions.

The ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has nominated Sarada Jena from the Balikuda-Erasama assembly segment in Jagatsinghpur district.

Although this is Sarada’s first time contesting as a BJD candidate, he is not new to Balikuda-Erasama politics.

In 2014, Sarada entered electoral politics as an independent candidate and secured more than 24,000 votes.

Prior to that, he was involved in Congress politics and was elected twice as a Zilla Parishad member.

His recent switch to the BJD just before the 2019 assembly election had a significant impact on the party’s success, especially in Balikuda-Erasama constituency.

Raghunandan Das, the incumbent BJD MLA of Balikuda-Erasama, expressed his disappointment at not receiving the party ticket this time.

He believes that he fell victim to a conspiracy within the party.

The party cited ill health as the reason for denying him the ticket.

Despite this setback, Das has confirmed that he will support the party nominee, Sarada Jena, in the upcoming election.

It’s clear that the nomination decision has caused tension within the party, but Sarada Jena’s grassroots connection and organizational skills seem to have played a role in his selection. Let’s see how this unfolds in the ensuing election
