The contest was intense, with former MLA Sipra Malik, Kishore Chandra Tarai, and Rajesh vying for the party ticket.
Ultimately, the BJD decided to field an outsider, Sashi Bhusan Behera, as its candidate.Sashi Bhusan secured a comfortable victory in the election in 2019.
