White tigress Sneha dies at Odisha’s Nandankanan Zoo

Bhubaneswar, April 19: A 14 year old white tigress Sneha, who was undergoing treatment due to her illness, died in Nandankanan Zoo on Friday. 

According to the information, the tigress fell ill yesterday due to heat wave and she was given saline and medicines. However, she succumbed to her illness. Sneha, born to the Royal Bengal tiger Nishan and the white tigress Kusum on March 1, 2010, became the proud mother of eight tiger cubs at the zoo. Among them, she delivered three tiger cubs—Mousumi (female), Chinu (male), and the rare melanistic Vicky (male)—on August 5, 2016. Subsequently, two more tiger cubs, Luv and Kush, were born to Sneha from her second pregnancy. On March 28, 2021, she gave birth to three healthy male tiger cubs—Rakesh, Rocky, and Banshi—following mating with the tiger Saif.
