Nabarangpur, April 21: A woman Mao-cadre was arrested from Ekawari village of Nabarangpur district bordering the Chhattisgarh on Saturday.
The woman Maoist, identified as Mang Nureti (Sindhu), having critical injuries on her right leg has been handed over to the Chhattisgarh police on Sunday.
Sources said, with red alert on Odisha-Chhattisgarh border following a major encounter in the Bastar area, the Odisha Police had intensified combing operation in the mao-prone areas. Meanwhile, on the basis of intelligence inputs, two teams of Nabarangpur police launched a special anti-Naxal operation in a village suspecting hideout of a woman naxal. During the operation, 25-year-old Mang Nureti (Sindhu) was intercepted.
Nureti is suspected to have involved in the police-Naxal shootout near Karipani and Ekawari villages of Chhattisgarh that took place on April 12.
During investigation, it was revealed that Nureti was working under the leadership of Naxal leader Deepak Mandvi of the Sita Nadi Area Committee since 2021.
The Chhattisgarh police have initiated further investigation in this connection to ascertain the cadre’s involvement in the recent police-Maoist shootout and other violence wreaked by the Naxals.
