Bijapur, January 16: With a phenomenal success in operation against the Maoists, joint security forces eliminated as many as 12 Naxalites in Chhattisgarh on Wednesday.
According to reports, a joint team of security forces comprising the CRPF, DVF, DRG and CoBRA Jawans were on a combing operation in the Bijapur forest in the morning. Meanwhile, a gunfight broke out between the security forces and LWEs when the militants opened fire from their side to which the security contingents violently responded. As a result, at least 12 Naxalites succumbed to bullet injuries whereas some militias reportedly got a close escape.
Worth mentioning, this January has been a fatal time for the Maoist Cadres as at least 26 of their fellows were radically gunned down so far during the short timeline.
Of it, as many as five Maoists, including two women, were killed in an encounter with security personnel in the Bijapur district on January 12.
