Kendrapara, Dec 21: An 18.5-foot-long adult Indian rock python was rescued from a village in Odisha, forest department said on Saturday.
The python had strayed into Rajendranarayanpur village near Bhitarkanika National Park in Kendrapara district on Friday.
Locals alerted the forest department after spotting the snake, who rushed to the site to rescue it. The python had sustained some injuries and by veterinarians are taking care of it.
We saw a large snake like large reptile in farmland and alerted the locals. The snake might have strayed into human habitat from Bhitarkanika National Park, said a villager.
The snake will be released back into the wild after it fully recovers, forest officials said.
