Bhubaneswar, June 12: As many as 91,977 applications have been received for admission in 2400 B.Ed seats in Odisha, which is around 38 times higher that the available seat strength.
Similarly, 1886 applications were received for admission in 50 B.H.Ed seats and over 1251 students applied for 300 M.Ed seats in Odisha this academic session.
In total, 95,114 applicants have showen interest to pursue teaching courses in Odisha against the total seat strength of 2750.
For the last few years, students are showing interest for teacher jobs with increase in recruitment by the state government.
One needs to complete PG, Ph.D and qualify NET exam conducted by the UGC for a lecturer post. It takes four years alone to complete PG and Ph.D. However, one can apply for teachership only after completing B.Ed course. Besides, there is ample opportunity in both government and mushrooming private schools for teacher job, said applicants.
