Bhubaneswar, June 30:Odisha Chief Secretary Pradeep Kumar Jena on Sunday was relieved from the Lok Seva Bhawan post his retirement and Manoj Ahuja took over the charge from him.
Outgoing Chief Secretary Jena on the eve of his retirement from the top-bureaucrat post shared some emotional notes that warmed up the social media handles and inspired the social-media users in Odisha in many ways.
Jena, before a few hours of his retirement took to X and shared that a Chief Secretary is not all-in-all in a government or in democratic governance. He is an authorized person to carry out and help implement welfare and development programs of the government within the purview of frameworks of laws and set of rules, framed by the constitution.
“Sometimes people think that a chief secretary can do everything, which it not true,” Jena twitted in the X.
In another post on X Jena wrote, “Some expectations were beyond my power. Sometimes people think a Chief Secretary can do everything. It’s not true. I’m bound by limitations of systems, processes & procedures, rules & regulations. Even if wanted to help in some cases, I couldn’t because of such limitations.
In another post on X Jena wrote, “Wherever system supported or could be stretched I have tried my level best to solve the problem. I’m sorry if I couldn’t come up to the levels of expectations of some of you. Outside the govt I will try to be one with you to facilitate solutions to some of the problems people will face. Please count me in”.
On the other hand, people and social groups from Odisha and overseas, responded to outgoing Chief Secretary Jena’s posts with positive remarks, lauding Jena as a down-to-earth public servant.
