DICING THE RECORD
A report by Cricbuzz suggests that India became the 7th team in the world test cricket history to score a win/loss ratio of more than atleast once in their cricket history. But Indian team took the maximum number of matches to record this feat. A glance at the illustrious club below: W/L ratio of greater than 1
- Australia - 1
- Afghanistan – 3
- Pakistan – 16
- England – 22
- West Indies – 99
- South Africa – 340
- India - 580
The team has waited for 92 years to achieve this rare feat.
ASHWIN EQUALS WARNE
A statistical report by ESPN shows that the dynamic all round performance by R Ashwin has earned him a record achievement. The spinner at Chepauk had his 37th 5-wicket haul equalling Shane Warne’s feat of 37 5-wicket haul in 273 innings in test cricket history. Muthaih Muralitharan leads big with 67 such hauls playing 290 innings.
R Ashwin achieved this record feat in his 191th innings. Ashwin is 38-years, the age at which the legendary Sri Lankan spinner bid goodbye to international cricket. The record of gigantic five-wicket haul by Muralitharan seems unsurpassable, as he had played 290 innings at the age of 38 versus only 191 by Ashwin.
