Dhenkanal, July 1: Five students who went missing in Saptasajya Hill were safely rescued after an overnight search operation by forest officials in the early hours of Monday.
Among the rescued, four students are from Dhenkanal, while one is from Cuttack.
According to the sources, forest officials, with the assistance of local residents, traced the missing students.
Sources reveal that a group of seven students went trekking to Saptasajya on Sunday.
Out of the group, five students ventured further up the hill above Bishnu Baba Ashram. They became stranded in the forest due to heavy rain and were unable to find their way back. They managed to contact their families.
Upon receiving the information from the families, police hurried to the spot and, with the help of local residents, rescued the students after seven hours of effort.
The rescued students have been identified as Arakhita Mahapatra, Subham Mahapatra, Himanshu Das, Sujit Sahu, and Lucky Das, all aged between 18 and 20 years, from the Rajendra Nagar area near Cuttack district.
