Palakkad (Kerala), January 27: In a shocking twist, a man out on bail in connection with a 2019 murder case has reportedly killed two people—his neighbor and the neighbor's elderly mother—on Monday morning.
The incident occurred in Nenmara, near Palakkad, where 58-year-old Chenthamara, who had been released on bail two months ago, fatally stabbed 54-year-old Sudhakaran and his 76-year-old mother, Lekshmi.
Chenthamara had been serving a prison sentence for the murder of Sudhakaran's wife, Sajitha, in 2019. He was granted bail in November, and this horrific act took place just as the trial for the earlier murder was about to begin.
Locals say Chenthamara had blamed Sajitha for his separation from his wife and daughter, and he reportedly vowed to take revenge. Sudhakaran, who lived next door, had expressed concerns about Chenthamara’s potential to commit further violence. Sudhakaran and his mother had filed a written complaint with the local police, warning them that Chenthamara might strike again.
“He had sworn to kill Sajitha and two others. He did just that,” said a resident. “He was a lorry driver by profession, and while some question his mental state, there’s no doubt he carried a deep sense of vengeance.”
Following the murders, the police launched a manhunt for Chenthamara.
Meanwhile, residents are protesting against the police for not taking more serious action on the earlier complaint. The body of Lakshmi was initially allowed to be transported to the hospital, as she was still alive at the time, but the locals are now blocking the transportation of Sudhakaran’s body for post-mortem until Chenthamara is apprehended.
