New Delhi, Jan 19: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today highlighted the significance of the Maha Kumbh 2025, describing it as an extraordinary event that showcases a powerful convergence of equality and harmony, filled with unforgettable crowds and awe-inspiring scenes.

He emphasized that the festival's global appeal is a testament to its celebration of unity in diversity, as it brings together people from all corners of India and beyond, without any form of discrimination or casteism.

Addressing the 118th episode of Mann Ki Baat, PM Modi shared, "The Maha Kumbh has begun in Prayagraj. It is a remarkable gathering, where an extraordinary confluence of equality and harmony is witnessed. This year, many divine yogas are also being formed during the Kumbh. The Kumbh festival symbolizes unity in diversity, where people from across India and the world come together at Sangam. This tradition, which has endured for thousands of years, does not entertain any discrimination. Everyone participates together—taking a dip in the Sangam, sharing community meals, and receiving Prasad. That is why the Maha Kumbh stands as a beacon of unity."

The Prime Minister also drew attention to similar festivals like 'Pushkaram' celebrated in southern India along the Narmada, Godavari, Krishna, and Kaveri rivers, highlighting how both the Kumbh and Pushkaram symbolize the unifying nature of Indian traditions.

"The organization of the Kumbh festival reflects how our traditions bind the entire country. While Kumbh is celebrated in places like Prayagraj, Ujjain, Nashik, and Haridwar, Pushkaram is similarly celebrated in South India along rivers such as the Narmada, Godavari, Krishna, and Kaveri. These festivals are deeply connected to our beliefs and sacred rivers. From Kumbhkonam to Thirukadaiyur, and Kudavasal to Tirucherai, numerous temples are also associated with this tradition," he noted.

Proud of the global recognition of the Maha Kumbh, PM Modi stressed the importance of youth participation in the ongoing event, stating that when young people engage with their traditions, it ensures a bright future for the nation. He also pointed out the digital transformation of the Kumbh, with a significant online presence reflecting its growing global popularity.

The Prime Minister also spoke about the Gangasagar Mela, where millions of devotees gathered to take a holy dip on the occasion of Makar Sankranti, further reinforcing the spiritual and cultural importance of these gatherings.

"These festivals—Kumbh, Pushkaram, and Gangasagar Mela—not only foster social interactions but also promote harmony and unity, deeply connecting people with India’s rich traditions," PM Modi said. "Our scriptures guide us on the paths of religion, wealth, desire, and salvation. Similarly, our festivals strengthen the spiritual, social, cultural, and economic aspects of our lives."

Finally, discussing the first anniversary of the consecration of Ram Lala in Ayodhya, PM Modi stressed the need to preserve India's heritage while advancing on the path of development. "On January 11, we marked the first anniversary of the Ram Lala consecration. On this day of Paush Shukla Dwadashi, millions of devotees received blessings from Lord Ram. It has now become Prathistha Dwadashi Day. We must preserve our heritage while progressing on the path of development, taking inspiration from our past as we move forward," he said.
