Bhubaneswar: The word 'Bhai' dawns upon one the grasp of fellow-feeling, rapport, empathy and sympathy. But this word off late has started sounding dreadful, thanks to the underworld dons in Mumbai. A phone calling on you with words Bhai calling... sends chill down one’s spine. And Bollywood with all the zest has portrayed the two faces of Bhai on the screen. But meet our superstar Salman Khan- who is also a Bhai – the Bhai of Bollywood! Why the Dabbang star crowned with nickname 'Bhai'?
SALMAN KHAN – THE BRO
In fact, how the nick name Bhai gets tagged to the Saajan star Salman Khan is something that surprised even the superstar himself. In an interview once to Bollywood Life earlier, the Maine Pyar Kya star had said that Sohail used to call me Bhai, and his friends too started calling me Bhai. But now I am seeing, even the seniors call me Bhai.
A look shows the trend of Salman Bhai gained traction since 2016, just after the super hit film ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’. This nickname Bhai was made a popular suffix to the name of Sultan of Bollywood. His fans had made the nickname Bhai popular courtesy social media. In fact, the ‘Bhai’ currency gained momentum thanks to Salman big hit filmy names – Prem bhai, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Hello Brother, Chal Mere Bahi Bhai- Bhai et al.

The gossip doing round in B-Town bylanes is 3-Idiots fame Sharman Joshi criss-crossed Salman Khan at an event, where Sharman told Salman, “I am running through a lean phase. No films in my closet.” At this, the Bhai of Salman popped out and the Sultan star told Sharman, “Join my Sikandar star cast.”
After Tiger-3, Salman Khan’s big action is missing the screen. The Sultan of Bollywood is now working on another project ‘Sikandar’. Shooting of Sikandar is on full swing. Recently, the film’s first schedule was completed, and the second phase was on at full pace to catch the Eid timeline in 2025.
B-town is agog with hits like Muqadar Ka Sikandar, Jo Jeeta Wahi Sikandar et al. All eyes rivet now on Salman Khan’s Sikandar, in the backdrop of new rules set into motion by Shraddha Kapoor’s Stree 2 - only centimetres away from 600 club.
The starcast of Sikandar looks impressive. Along with Salman, two lead actress have joined the project, and they are none other than the Pushpa girl Rashmika Mandana and Singham Fame Kajal Agarwal.
The buzz of Sharman Joshi’s entry into Sikandar flashes out the ‘Bhai’ – ness (empathy) of Salman Khan. A retro look throws light on many such ‘Bhai’ instances of Salman Khan.
