Bhubaneswar, April 15: With the heat wave continues in Odisha, Special Relief Commissioner Satyabrata Sahu on Monday directed the District Admins not to engage labourers between 11 am and 3 pm.
The Commissioner warned district Collectors, Civil Engineers and Labour Commissioners with other concerned officers to face action in case of any deviation of the instruction.
The letter read, “It is strictly prohibited to engage workers/ labourers/workmen during the peak hours of the day from 11 am to 3 pm during summer.”
“If there would be any deviation of the instructions, concerned officers shall be personally held responsible and action shall be initiated as per the relevant Sections of the Disaster Management Act, 2005.”
Earlier, the SRC had asked the district admins to take proactive measures to tackle heat wave related problems ahead of the elections.
