Keonjhar, Mar 29: In a midnight heist, some miscreants allegedly looted money from the donation box of Baladevjew Temple in Odisha’s Keonjhar district last night.
The matter came to fore this morning after the priest arrived at the temple and found the donation box broken. Thereafter, he alerted the locals and police.
Upon getting the information, police arrived at the spot and took stock of the situation.
Though the exact amount of stolen money is yet to be ascertained, the priest estimated that there was around Rs 30,000 to Rs 40,000 cash inside the donation box.
According to sources, construction work is currently underway at the temple for which all gates of the temple were open. Taking advantage of this, the looters entered the temple and decamped with the cash.
A probe has been launched into the matter and efforts are on to trace the culprits involved, said the police.
