1. Delhi, 2023: Fatehpur Beri Police Station Assault
In January 2023, a disturbing incident of police brutality was captured on CCTV at the Fatehpur Beri police station in south Delhi. The footage, which went viral on social media, showed three policemen assaulting a man inside the police station.

The victim was identified as a 30-year-old man named Anurag.
The CCTV footage showed the policemen repeatedly slapping and kicking the man.
The incident occurred on January 25, 2023, around 1:30 AM.
The victim had been brought to the police station following a quarrel with his neighbor.
Consequences:
All three policemen involved in the assault were suspended.
A departmental inquiry was initiated against them.
The Delhi Police issued a statement condemning the act and assuring strict action.

2. Tamil Nadu, 2022: Thoothukudi District Illegal Detention and Torture
In November 2022, CCTV footage from a police station in Thoothukudi district, Tamil Nadu, exposed a case of illegal detention and torture of two men.

The victims were identified as Subhash and Durairaj, both residents of Thoothukudi.
They were allegedly detained illegally for three days and subjected to torture.

The incident came to light when the victims' families approached the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court.

The court ordered the transfer of the case to the CB-CID (Crime Branch-Criminal Investigation Department).

The victim was identified as Tarique Sheikh, a 30-year-old man arrested on suspicion of theft.
Sheikh died while in police custody on July 12, 2021.
Initially, the police claimed he had died of a heart attack.
CCTV footage from the police station showed Sheikh being severely beaten by police officers.
Consequences:
Five policemen, including the station in-charge, were arrested and charged with murder.
