Mumbai, October 3: The Bombay High Court has directed the CID to meticulously collect, check, and preserve all evidence related to the incident of alleged encounter-killing of Akshay Shinde, the prime accused in the Badlapur rape case.
The Bombay High Court has also asked for the magisterial probe report to be submitted by November 18.
During the hearing, the court emphasized the importance of forensic evidence, noting that every firearm leaves a unique residue and pattern.
The court questioned whether all necessary forensic evidence, such as the remnants on Shinde’s head and hands, had been collected and analyzed.
The judges also highlighted discrepancies, such as the failure to seize a water bottle given to Shinde and the need to trace the bullet that pierced the police van’s roof.
This case has raised several questions about the conduct of the police and the thoroughness of the investigation. The court’s insistence on detailed forensic analysis and evidence preservation underscores the gravity of the situation.
It is pertinent to mention that in mid-August, Maharashtra was rocked by an alleged sexual assault on two girls aged about 5 in the toilet of a private school in Badlapur, the home district of CM Ekanth Sindhe.
The prime accused, Akshaya Sindhe was arrested and sent to jail. But on September 23, he was shot dead in a police encounter near Mumbai while he was being transferred from jail to Badlapur by escort.
