Bhubaneswar, Nov 8: In a bid to foster a clean and green Bhubaneswar this Diwali, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has launched the Swachh Diwali Subh Diwali campaign to keep Bhubaneswar clean.
This initiative is dedicated to celebrating Diwali in an environmentally responsible and sustainable manner. The campaign places emphasis on the significance of supporting local products, reducing single-use plastic, and maintaining cleanliness throughout and after the festival.
The Swachh Diwali Subh Diwali campaign is geared toward promoting a clean and eco-friendly observance of Diwali. It strives to create awareness and inspire individuals to choose locally made products, eliminate single-use plastic, and prioritize cleanliness before and after the Diwali festivities. This initiative aims to instil a sense of environmental responsibility and align the cultural essence of Diwali with the principles of a clean Bhubaneswar and Lifestyle for the Environment.
Citizens have been encouraged to engage in cleaning and misting activities before and after Diwali, ensuring a fresh and hygienic environment. Various citizens' groups will actively participate in the Signature Campaign, encouraging citizen involvement and commitment to a clean and green Diwali.
BMC will collaborate with market associations, trade associations, business entities, resident welfare associations, ward committees, self-help groups and NGOs as well as youth clubs. The objective is to raise awareness on various aspects of cleanliness, including waste segregation, the adoption of the principles of reduce, reuse, recycle, and the transformation of waste into valuable resources.
Mayor Sulochana Das has called upon citizens to actively support this initiative, contributing to a cleaner and greener environment.
