Chandikhol, Oct 14: A biker was killed while two others sustained grievous injuries after being hit by a passenger bus on NH 16 at Chhatia in Jajpur district of Odisha thsi morning
The deceased has been identified as Balaram Sahoo of Paramahansapur under Kandarpur police limits in Cuttack district.
The intensity of the collision was so high that the bike was pushed around 500 meters and caught fire. The fire sparked from the bike and engulfed the bus within minutes, said an eyewitness.
Fire fighters from Chandikhol reached the spot being informed about the incident and doused the fire after around an hour-long effort.
We have sent the body for post-mortem and launched a probe into the accident. The bus, named Chakadola, was en route to Bhubaneswar from Baripada.
Around 60 passengers were rescued from the bus by locals, said police.
