Bhubaneswar, Oct 13: The clear skies are making Durga Puja celebrations enthusiastic for the last three days in capital city of Odisha, Bhubaneswar. Since the Dussehra falls on Sunday, the revelry is likely to continue late into the night.
Though some weathermen had earlier predicted partly cloudy sky with light rain/thundershower is likely during the Durga Puja celebrations, the Puaj days have remained rain-free in Odisha. The sky has been mostly bright and sunny. Though the high humidity made sweaty conditions, revellers took full advantage of the favourable weather conditions and came out in lakhs for the festivities.
With over 185 pandals installed across Bhubaneswar city this year, festive spirit is in full swing, and with the pleasant weather adding to the allure, vendors are already doing brisk business, as crowds flock to the pujas in large numbers.
“The absence of rain has meant that people are out in full force, visiting the puja pandals and enjoying the festivities. We are expecting more crowd today as it is Sunday, said a fast food stall owner at Nayapalli.
With the good weather persisting, the streets of Bhubaneswar are expected to remain packed with people, enjoying the festivities, shopping, and savoring local delicacies at the numerous temporary stalls.
“Earlier weather predictions had said light rainfall may occur during Durga Puja in Odisha. However, the IMD cleared on Wednesday that the celebrations are most likely to be rain-free that enthused us to make this year Durga Puja celebrations memorable one,” said Sudhanshu Sekhar Das who has come Bhubaneswar from Nayagarh to soak in Durga Puja festivities with family.
