Bhubaneswar, Oct 11: The special all-women motorcycle patrolling unit of Commissionerate Police, "Shakti Bahini", swung into action for safety of women at various durga puja pandals in Bhubaneswar.
The "Shakti Bahini" members were seen actively managing crown and traffic in Bhubaneswar during visit of LoP Naveen Patnaik and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi to various Durga Puja mandaps in the city, ensuring women safety.
Bhavna Mishra, a Devotee at Nayapalli Puja dandal shares, "The presence of 'Shakti Bahini' during Durga Puja makes me feel much safer. Knowing that there is an all-women patrol team dedicated to ensuring our security allows us to enjoy the festivities without fear."
Similarly, another denizen, Luptansa, who was visiting Saheed Nagar Durga Puja mandap said, "It's reassuring to see women officers patrolling the pandals. With 'Shakti Bahini' on duty, I can confidently bring my family to the celebrations, knowing we are protected from any potential crimes like chain snatching, or theft."
In a bid to enhance safety for women and children during Durga Puja celebrations in Bhubaneswar, the Commissionerate Police has introduced a special motorcycle patrolling unit, "Shakti Bahini."
Commissioner of Police Dev Datta Singh flagged off the special initiative in the presence of DCP Bhubaneswar Pinak Mishra on Thursday evening.
The all-women team, comprising 40 officers, are patrolling key puja pandals such as Nayapalli, Saheed Nagar, Jharpada, Rasulgarh, and Palasuni to prevent petty crimes against women.
