Aska, Mar 21: A raging forest fire in the Ganjam district's North Ghumsar division continues to spread, rapidly increasing across 13 areas even as firefighters work to combat it.
The fire has broken out at the Kutari Hills and Ambada Forest Hills, engulfing large portions of forest land.
The fire is sweeping through this aesthetically beautiful region, destroying wildlife habitats. The fire has now reached the Shergarh and Suliya hills, worsening the situation.
The Forest Department has become fully engaged in suppressing the fire and is making extreme efforts to control the blaze from further destruction.
Worth mentioning, Odisha has faced 10,455 incidents of forest fire since the beginning of 2025 and the incidents are increasing tremendously with rising temperatures this summer.
The Forest Survey of India (FSI) has noted the presence of 2,586 points of fire across the forests in Odisha in just the last week.
Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Koraput, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Bargarh, Bolangir, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Sundargarh, Boudh, Subarnapur, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Gajapati, Ganjam, Deogarh and Angul, Cuttack, Nayagarh are the districts of greatest concern.
