Bhubaneswar, March 27: In an unprecedented incident, scores of cops were reportedly injured in Bhubaneswar on Thursday following police-protesters’ scuffle.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Bhubaneswar, Jagmohan Meena, confirmed that the situation at Lower PMG was escalated all of a sudden wherein at least 12 police personnel were severely injured during a law & order situation, wreaked by the Congress activists. The injured cops were later sent to hospital for treatment.
In ordet to bring the situation under control, more forces were deployed at the lower PMG and the prohibitory order BNS 163 was restored here, the DCP said.
An investigation is currently underway.Stern action will be initiated against the offenders who took law into their hands, leaving the protest a violent war, on the basis of the video footage, Meena added.
