Bhubaneswar, June 11: The southwest monsoon is making progress in parts of Telangana and Chhattishgarh, but Odisha is expected to continue experiencing heat wave conditions for the next five days.
Weather Expert Dr. Surendranath Pashupalak said that, temperatures in many parts of the state will range between 43-44 degrees Celsius until 15th. Changes in weather patterns are expected from the 15th in the coastal and southern inland regions, and from the 16th in the northern areas. Cloudy conditions will bring a decrease in rainfall, with no possibility of monsoon rains before the 15th. Maximum temperatures are forecasted to reach 32 degrees Celsius in many places starting from the 14th. By the 19th, temperatures may drop below 30 degrees Celsius in some areas.
The Meteorological Department has issued warnings of summer heat in the interior and northern coastal regions, with extreme heat and thunderstorms expected along the entire coast until 14th. The onset of the summer monsoon is anticipated in several districts including Balasore, Jagatsinghpur, Nayagarh, Khurda, Nuapada, Balangir, Gajapati, Ganjam, and Jharsuguda by Tuesday. Meanwhile, hot and humid conditions will persist in Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Puri, and Cuttack.
On Wednesday the 12th, a Yellow Warning has been issued for Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Sonpur, Balangir, Boudh, and Nuapada due to the summer heat. Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati districts will also experience hot weather. Similar conditions are expected in different districts on the 13th and 14th.
On Tuesday, temperatures in Western Odisha may soar to a maximum of 43 degrees Celsius, while the coastal temperature may reach around 40 degrees Celsius. On the 12th, Western Odisha could touch 44 degrees Celsius, with coastal areas hitting 41 degrees Celsius. Additionally, intermittent rain is anticipated at some locations.
