Ranchi, Oct 19: The INDIA bloc, spearheaded by the Congress and the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), will fight the upcoming Jharkhand assembly elections, fielding candidates in 70 of the 81 seats.
Chief Minister Hemant Soren announced this plan on Saturday, indicating that discussions with alliance partners, including the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and various Left parties, are ongoing for the allocation of the remaining 11 seats.
Currently, the JMM holds the majority in the Jharkhand Assembly with 30 members, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has 25 and the Congress has 16.
The elections for the 81-member Jharkhand Assembly are scheduled for November 13 and 20.
