Bhubaneswar, October, 15, The Odisha government has announced a plan to organize 50 nature camps in every district, as part of a broader initiative to deepen students' engagement with nature and environmental sustainability.
Satyabrat Sahu, Additional Chief Secretary (ACS), Forest & Environment Department, has highlighted that each camp will involve 40-50 students, providing hands-on experiences in biodiversity conservation. These camps aim to foster a sense of environmental stewardship among the youth.
During the 18th Governing Body Meeting of the Centre for Environmental Studies (CES), several important environmental initiatives were discussed. One of the key initiatives is the integration of Eco-clubs with the seven themes of Mission LiFE, focusing on embedding eco-friendly practices into daily routines. The meeting also emphasized the goal of making school campuses plastic-free zones, and promoting eco-friendly alternatives.
Another significant initiative endorsed was "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" (A Tree in the Name of Mother), which encourages students to plant trees in honor of their mothers, reinforcing the importance of afforestation for a sustainable future.
Key officials from the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC), the State Pollution Control Board (SPCB), and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) participated in the meeting, reaffirming CES's commitment to advancing Odisha's environmental agenda. These efforts aim to contribute to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a sustainable and prosperous "Bikasita Bharat."
