Kishan's Century Blitz:
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) delivered a batting masterclass! In their opening match of IPL 2025, SRH nearly broke the 300-run barrier, ultimately posting a mammoth 286 for 6 and defeating the Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 44 runs. It was a game of explosive hitting, particularly from new SRH recruit Ishan Kishan, who smashed a breathtaking century on his franchise debut.
Kishan's Stunning Debut Century
After SRH's aggressive opening pair of Travis Head (67) and Abhishek Sharma ("Travishek", as their partnership is now being called) laid a solid foundation, scoring a massive 94 runs in the powerplay, it was Kishan's time to shine. The left-hander, an upgrade over previous No. 3 Rahul Tripathi, blasted an unbeaten 106 off just 47 balls. This was Kishan's maiden IPL century, a knock filled with powerful strokes and incredible timing. He has smoothly integrated into the Sunrisers Hyderabad's system.
Rajasthan Royals' were Brave, but lacked….
Faced with a mamoth target, the Rajasthan Royals didn't back down. Captain Sanju Samson (66) and Dhruv Jurel (70) played impressive innings, matching SRH's aggressive approach. Shimron Hetmyer, RR's lone overseas batter, also contributed some late fireworks. However, the sheer scale of the chase proved too much, and they finished at 242 for 6.
Simarjeet, with figures of 2-46 was the pick of the bowlers.
Deshpande claimed three wickets for SRH, but at a high cost conceding 44 runs.
Run-Feast
The match was a run-fest, with a combined total of 528 runs – the second-highest aggregate in IPL history. While SRH fell just short of their own IPL record total (and the elusive 300-run mark), their batting display sent a clear message to the rest of the league: they are a force to be reckoned with.
